Before I begin, I am going to first give you the definition of the four uneven lies in golf.cbo1

Uphill Lie – The easiest of the four uneven lies. The ball is level with your feet but the slope is up-hill, we refer to this as an uphill lie.
Downhill Lie – A ball that is level to your feet but the slope is down hill, probably the second most difficult shot in golf.
Ball Below Feet – The most difficult shot in golf is when the ball is below your feet
Ball Above Feet – The fourth uneven lie is when the ball is above your feet.

Don’t get confused between an uphill lie, and when the ball is simply above your feet. These are 2 different lies, and should be addressed separately. Also, don’t get confused with the downhill lie, and the ball being below your feet. Again, these are 2 different lies.

1. Let’s start with the easiest shot in golf, the up-hill lie. If you struggle with this shot, you probably swing the golf club to vertical into the ground and hit a fat shot. Before you prepare for an uphill lie, you need to think of a few important items first. Make sure you take a less lofted club. When you have an uphill lie, it will make the ball go HIGHER and SHORTER.
2. The ball will have a tendency to hook to the left, so aim a little to the right.
3. To avoid hitting the shot fat, check your shoulder alignment and make sure they are parallel to the ground you are standing on. If you are on an uphill lie, your back shoulder should be a little lower that your leading shoulder.
4. The ball should be positioned according to what club you are using, as though you were on a level lie. (A bit forward for longer clubs.)
5. You want to make sure you follow through HIGH after impact.

Now we can move on to one of the hardest shots in golf, the down hill lie. If you have a tendency to struggle with this shot, the miss hit is usually a top. Follow the steps below and you will see a huge change in your down hill shots.

1. Because the ball will fly lower, you can take a more lofted club to help the ball go a little higher.
2. The ball will have a tendency to curve to the right, aim a little to the left.
3. If you have your shoulders at address tilted level to the down slope of your lie, this will encourage the club to swing DOWN into the ball (correct) and not up in the down swing. Thus, you will hit the bottom of the ball and not the top.
4. Play the ball in your stance according to the club you are using (again, a little forward for a longer club).
5. You want to make sure you follow through LOW to the ground after impact.

Now we are back to an easy shot, the ball above our feet. If you follow the steps below, you will not hit the ground behind the ball anymore, and the ball above your feet will become your absolute favorite shot in golf

1. If you struggle with hitting the ball fat in these shots, make sure you are standing taller than your normal stance.
2. The ball will have a tendency to fly to the left, aim a little farther to the right.
3. DO NOT BEND YOUR KNEES
4. This is the main point, the golf club wants to swing more AROUND your body, let it…DO NOT TRY TO MAKE A NORMAL SWING…let the club swing around you.

golf 19THE HARDEST SHOT IN GOLF. The dreaded, (I can’t believe this is happening to me) BALL BELOW YOUR FEET golf shot. You have come to the right place, below is the answer.

1. When the ball is below your feet, you will have a tendency to top it to the right, whiff the ball, or shank it.
2. The address is the most important part of this shot. Bend your knees and bend WAY over at address. You ALMOST can not bend TOO much.
3. The ball will have a tendency to go to the right, aim farther left.
4. The golf club wants to swing up and down, NOT around. LET IT…It will feel like a lob swing, this is correct. IF you make your normal swing, you will whiff the ball completely.

Now, forget everything you knew about uneven lies and give this a try. I KNOW IT WILL HELP! Get back to us with all of your golf successes.

The putter is probably the most used club on the green and many golf players are after professional golf putting tips to get the best scores they can. It takes quite a long way to get to the green, but once there, you’d better putting-greenhandle it right. Here are some golf putting tips for amateur players who are trying to improve their special swings. The first question that rises refers to the ideal distance for the putt backswing. Golf putting tips recommend that you take your right toe as a standard point. Then accelerate the club-head and hit the ball.

Golf putting tips also revolve around the artificial mats and cups you can order for your backyard to be able to practice. And, this is by far a very good idea, particularly if you have a friend to join you and increase the competitive feeling. Remember that part of the golf putting tip here is to recreate a slightly pressing atmosphere as if you were in a regular game. Many of the golf putting tips beginners use are available in instructional books and videos, not to mention the richness of Internet sources that can assist you in the attempt to improve your golf performance.

A very informational site can be visited at Ultimate short game system , don’t hesitate to have a look around and see what’s new. You may ask for golf putting tips from your friends or some professional players. If they watch you play it would be really educational and useful for you if they analyzed your style and suggested golf putting tips for an increased game level. Don’t be too proud or too shy to ask or listen, after all, you turn to someone who could set you with a clear example of a well-controlled game and provide some great golf putting tips.

On all golf sites, the request for golf putting tips is often lower than that for distance shots instructions for instance. Up to a point, this preoccupation is normal, since it gets more time to improve the golf swing than to apply some golf putting tips. However, though involving different levels of difficulty and mastery, the golf putting tips and the basic beginner knowledge are equally important for various groups of players. For an obvious increased game quality it is good to put into practice any golf putting tips learn from regardless what source.

Size of the ball
The “Rules of Golf” says that a golf ball’s diameter must be a minimum of 1.680 inches / 42.67 mm. A smaller ball would fly much further than a larger ball. The reason for this is simple: with a smaller golf balldiameter the ball has less air resistance, or in other words, it displaces less air as it flies. Because of this, most manufacturers produce golf balls with the minimal diameter (1.680 inches / 42.67 mm). The rules also state that the ball must be round, but I guess you knew that…

Weight of the ball
A golf ball’s weight must not exceed 1.620 oz./ 45.93 g according to the “Rules of Golf”. The heavier the ball, the greater its momentum, and the less it would be slowed down by air resistance. Hence it would tend to fly further. For this reason most manufacturers produce golf balls with the heaviest sanctioned weight of 1.620 oz./ 45.93 g.

Compression Rates
In the manufacturing process, some two-piece, and all three-piece balls are rated by their compression measurements. This is done by pressuring them with a standard weight
Balls that don’t deform at all are rated Compression 200, while balls that deform by 0.2″ or above are rated Compression 0. These are the two extremes, and between them balls are rated in intervals of 0.001 inches. The Standard Compression rate is usually 90 or 100. the higher the compression rate the harder the feel, and vice versa. Almost every ball is subject to a compression rating. Compression rates of 80 and 100 are also found.

However, manufacturers are not bound by an official standard. Hence one manufacturer’s compression rate of 100 can be different to another manufacturer’s compression rate of 100. This can mount up to a 3.5 point difference in either direction. In addition, some balls don’t even have the compression rate printed on them.

According to a host of surveys, low speed swing players are better off using balls with a Compression rate of 80. Players with an average speed swing should choose Compression 100, and Compression 110 is best for high swing speed players.

The weather should always be taken into consideration when deciding on compression rates to use. Low compression balls are best for colder weather, while high compression balls perform better in hot weather.

Whether it’s in baseball, hockey, soccer, tennis or any other sports that involves a ball, there is a feeling of immense satisfaction and pride that comes from hitting the ball solidly. Nowhere does this apply more than in golf,golf-driving-range where the small ball goes where it wants on anything but a solid shot.

If you want to hit the ball solidly on a consistent basis, the only way is through practice and more practice.

Though you may not think so, the best time to practice is right after a round. Everything that didn’t work for you during the round is fresh in your mind, and your body and mind are ready to go. Failure to work consistently on the shots that regularly give you the most trouble means your game won’t soon improve.

The key to maximizing your efficiency in practice is creating ‘real’ situations. Ideally, you would mirror what happened in your round and employ your best swings. Also work on hitting balls from every bad lie you can think of. Obviously, it’s extra important to practice if you haven’t played for a while.

Boost your game further by visualizing a round of golf during lunch or breaks, on your way to or home from work, etc. Imagine taking many good swings and hitting a great shot each time. See your entire body flowing in unison through each shot, completely tension-free. This isn’t useless preparation. You are increasing your muscle memory and preparing them for the next round.

If you enjoy other sports, you can transfer movements in these sports to help your golf game. For instance, the way you shift your weight on a tennis backhand shot is very similar to the bodyweight transfer on a golf shot. Use the tennis experience to remember what you need to do on the links. For detailed steps on how to swing properly we suggest you pick up a copy of the Golf Beginner Guide - it’s a 272 page ebook full of great advice, tips and lessons in golf.

When you’re hitting a lot of balls in one session, remember to take a break between swings. You will avoid mental and physical exhaustion and can use the time to process what you’ve learned or accomplished. Remember, you’re not out there to hit a thousand shots, rather a few beautiful ones. Hitting 20-30 balls at a time is sufficient practice, especially if the majority of these are struck on the sweet spot of the clubface.

To hit a more accurate shot and promote better contact, pull out your favorite iron and try this exercise: take two tees and stick them in the ground a couple of inches apart. (You can also use two balls.) Try (air)swinging your iron through the tees without hitting them. Start with partial swings and work your way up to full swings as you get better at avoiding the tees. Soon you will be hitting the ball more solidly.

It may sound corny, but don’t forget the feeling of a good shot. Memorize it and internalize it, then practice it and you will soon be able to produce it consistently. It’s very easy to lose the feeling of a great shot because there are so many variables that went into hit, from hand position, proper grip and good pre-swing body alignment to the right ball position, clubface impact and follow-through.

I hope this give you a few more things to think  about when your practicing  and your see some positive improvement in your game. Good luck.

Yes the driver, my favorite club in the bag.  The saying goes ” Drive for show putt for dough ” and there’s nothing more satisfying than ripping a powerful straight drive off the tee and watching as it lands in the center of the fairway.  For most of us this is but a dream.  A straight drive off the tee is a rear occurrence and the dreaded slice or hook shot seems to rear its ugly head more often that not. Putting a little extra effort into a parr 5 drive off the tee sees the golf ball sailing sideways across 3 fairways, ha ha wow I think we have all hit that shot.

The most frequent error golf players make is to hit the ball as hard as they can when performing a long drive.  I’m sure the best instructors will agree the the best drive possible does not come from how hard you can hit the 1205_HR_Golfer_Puttingball. The areas to focus on are proper body balance, alignment  and force gathering to gain the best possible outcome.

In the case of a stronger hit , it is possible to completely blow success off as the swing is tense and in efficient from a physical point of view. The best tip here is to remember to think of the club as an extension of your arms. You need a smooth back swing into the coiled position then uncoil with a smooth a consistently increasing speed to impact, then following through to have the club head around to your right shoulder ( if your right handed).

Now to gain the best out of your drives it definitely helps to be in good physical condition because muscle control and muscle memory play a big part in having a consistent shot. There are some really good ebooks ion the Internet especially for golfers to help condition the body for the golf swing.

If you use helpful Internet training videos or ebooks to help improve your swing, don’t just focus on the swing and hit aspect , also pay close attention to the dos and don’t of the swing training tips in order to see progress and get that that consistent swing you want.

If any of you golfers out there reading this blog have attended a golf  lesson will know the first thing the instructor will teach you is how to grip the golf club correctly. This one of the foundations of a consistent grip5and accurate game. For those of you who’d like to find out more about golf before attending lessions at your local club or driving range, here are a few tips to learn how to grip a golf club correctly.

The first thing to keep in mind is that your grip on the club is your only way to get feel and feedback from your strike on the golf ball. Hitting off the center of the club face will have a smooth, powerful feel through your grip. On the other hand hitting off the heel or toe of the club face will send an uneasy vibration through the grip or even turn the golf club in your hands and result in a very poor shot.

In order to grip a golf club correctly you need to place the last joint of your index finger on the underside of the club shaft. So keep the club shaft at a downward angle and place your lead hand on the angle, placing your thunb on the top of the shaft. You might want to get a good resource book like The Beginners Guide to Golf. This will give you good detailed pictures and a fool proof grip set up wich you can easy repeat every time you pick up a club.

There are not many people who are taught how to grip the golf club correctly actually manage to give the right strokes from the beginning. Of course the key to becoming a better golfer is to practice correctly and practice often. This should be the first step in your learning process and soon you’ll be moving onto mastering the swing and producering the best shots possible. I hope this helped in some way and good luck with your round this weekend.

So you want to get your first set of golf clubs. You’ve been borrowing your friends set or hired clubs for a few rounds of golf in the weekend. But there is nothing like having your own equipment that is more custom fit to you personally. So to take away some of the confusion of buying new clubs I have listed so of the thing you should think about before you are confronted with the daunting amount of options you have to choose from.

Be Clear About Your Golfing Goals

To start with you need to think about how much time and dedication you want to put into improving your game.  Do you plan to play every day in the pursuit of making this the game of golf a full time career, then if so you’ll want to spend more money and effort on a custom set of clubs. Or maybe your just having a round one weekend a month with your friends. Identifying your goals will help when it comes time to open your wallet.

Assessing Your Levels of Dedication and InterestgolferBigDriver
By honestly assessing your dedication to golf, you can more easily determine how much to spend, and on what quality of clubs. How much will you be practicing? Will you be willing to take lessons? If you aren’t willing to go that far, then you’re probably better off going with a cheaper pair of clubs. If you are planing to practice regularly, and take lessons, then you may want something more expensive that are more custom fit and will help you improve quickly and become more consistent.

Which to Choose New or Used Clubs?
Used clubs are a great place to start and probably a good choice if you aren’t sure about your commitment or have a history of taking up hobbies and losing interest in them after a short time. Because they’ll be cheaper than new clubs, they can be replaced more easily later.

Shaft Options – Where to Start
The two differences in golf shafts that beginners should keep in mind are shaft composition (graphite or steel) and shaft flex (the amount of bend in the shaft during your swing). Steel is sturdier and cheaper, but graphite is lighter, so it will generate more swing speed. Women and older players will benefit most from graphite shafts that have a softer flex. Stronger, younger men may go with regular or stiffer shafts, but remember that many teaching say too many golfers use shafts with too much stiffness. If you’d like to get more details about proper shaft selection consider getting the Golf Beginner Guide, a 272 page ebook created especially for the novice golfer.

Getting a Clubfitting
If you’re getting a new set of clubs, a club fitting is an option. A club fitting, lasting about half an hour, is an option offered by many teaching pros. If you don’t want that, at least getting a measurement in a pro shop will ensure that the clubs you choose are well-suited to your body. If you are a 5-foot-10 male, then the standard clubs straight off the rack will fit you. However, if that description doesn’t fit you very well, you might want to get fitted.

Budgeting
A set of clubs can be extremely expensive. If you have enough money and you’re willing to spend on top-quality equipment, then by all means do so. However, for most people the amount of money spent will correlate to how dedicated they are. A good idea for if you’re just setting out, though, is to look for an inexpensive first set – that way, you won’t have wasted as much money if you don’t continue playing.

Easier Golf with the Right Clubs
Of course, nothing will take the place of a good swing, but as a novice golfer you can make it easier on yourself by choosing clubs that are designed specifically for higher-handicappers – known as “game improvement clubs”. You should choose irons that are cavity-backed and perimeter-weighted. Investigate “hybrid” sets, in which utility clubs replace the long irons – that is, the 3-, 4- and occasionally 5-irons. Go for more loft (i.e. 12 degrees), not less, when choosing a driver. Don’t pay attention to what kind of clubs the Tour players use.

Ask Questions, Seek Advice

If you have friends who play, ask them for advice. Ask at a pro shop or golf pro for recommendations. Get some idea of what you’re really looking for. When you’ve done all this, and you’re ready to buy, remember to shop around. Range and price will always differ from one outlet to another, whether you’re shopping at pro shops, department stores, or garage sales. Just keep in mind your price range and only buy clubs within that range. If you would like more detailed advice we recommend getting the Golf Beginner Guide, a great resource for new golfers. It’s just $29.50, and we think this is money well spent.
